The Environment Unit develops and implements CARC regulations as well as coordinating the implementation of national regulations related to aviation. In addition, the Unit develops, recommends, and coordinates national aviation requirements and standards relating to environmental matters which include aircraft noise and emissions. The Unit also evaluates programs that aim at meeting these requirements, as well as evaluating environmental assessments of proposed projects related to air transport.

Furthermore, the Office is responsible for overseeing aviation related environmental compliance to protect the environment within the context of achieving sustainable air transport.
